Nicky Hopkins Park Bench
If you can find Perivale Park on the Western edge of London you will discover the Nicky Hopkins Memorial Park Bench
Nicky, a session muso, played with them all: the Beatles, the Rolling Stone, the Who, the list goes on.
On the the North Walk on the Thames there is the
Temple which is the centre of the English law fraternity and where in the 1200s the Magna Carta was signed-making even Kings subject to the Rule of law.
It also has a beautiful garden in the centre of London.
Black Friars Hotel just because it’s there.
Borough Market of course.
If you have your bike or car in London you must go to the Ace Cafe.
So if you have done the Big ones.
St Pauls, the Tower Bridge and all the other big attraction. Look a little further!
I think I have a thing for markets
The colour the noise the beautiful fresh food on Display.
Fresh bread of all sorts
Makes my mouth water
The markets that I really enjoy are those in the centre of big cities.
Like the Borough Market in London.
People from all walks of life.
What biker can resist the high passes
In the clouds
By the icy glaciers
The winding roads up the mountain passes
The cobble stoned old San Gotthard pass my favourite of all
Crowned with its mountain eagle monument
And on a clear day the lakes, an amazing blue, pay tribute to the sky above them.
As I plan the next adventure
My head fills with images
Thoughts of last year
Unique in nature
That have left a lasting impression on me
One of nature’s sculptures
Carved by the wind and waves of the Bay of Biscay
The Praia de Augas Santas
The Bay of Cathedrals
Is certainly a natural masterpiece
A place of spiritual beauty and wonder.
Its a cool late summer night in Melbourne
The moon is near full
Casting her silver ribbon toward me
The breeze is light
The water carries barely a ripple
Life is beautiful
And even in the darkest moments the moon shines her love in her light.
There are only a few times
That one experiences the feeling
Of sitting on top of the world
The Pic du Midi is one of them.
Up with the eagles at Pic du Midi
Flags at Hobsons Bay Yacht Club
Flags are the traditional way of ship comminication
The flags tell a message of respect.
The club burgee at top of the mast says the ship is from Hobsons Bay Yacht Club
The Australian flag from the back stay identifies an Australian ship
The courtesy flag is a sign of respect to the country you are in.
The flying of the aboriginal flag from the cross trees says we are in aboriginal country.
Three flags can give a simple but true message.
Taoist temple and Heavenly Goddess Statue, Footscray, Victoria, Australia
The heavenly goddess
Rising from the remnants of industrial decay
An old abattoir
Now parkland that were once holding pens for slaughter
Waterways once polluted now revived
I had a teacher once
A boat builder
As I made mistakes when building a my clinker row boat
He would say
There is nothing that cant be fixed
Maybe the Heavenly Goddess is a symbol of renewal
That there is nothing that cant be fixed
There just needs to be the will for renewal Clinker detail
Fireworks over Melbourne, Australia
A safe, joyful, happy 2019 to all
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the wind blow always at your back
May the rain fall soft upon your fields and
May peace, happiness and love rein supreme.
Ps the above is an adaption of a traditional Irish greeting.
